ScottishPower Renewables funds Bikeability course for Suffolk Pupils

Suffolk County Council is creating a ‘Bike Library’ for year 5 and 6 pupils at Phoenix St. Peter Academy, Lowestoft. Thanks to additional funding from ScottishPower Renewables, supporting partner of the Suffolk stage of the Tour of Britain, the pupils and their parents or carers will also be offered a Bikeability training course to give them the skills, confidence and understanding they need to take their bike on the road.

ScottishPower riding high as Suffolk Tour of Britain Stage Partner

HVDC Cable Contract Confirmed With NKT

ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) has confirmed the contract for the high-voltage DC (HVDC) export power cable system for its 1.4GW East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm with supplier NKT.

Utilities surveys and associated traffic management

In the first half of June, we will be undertaking surveys across our onshore development area to assess the locations of underground utilities. These surveys will be carried out using a ground penetrating radar on public highways and will require traffic management to enable this work to be carried out safely.

Construction of East Anglia THREE’s converter station resumes at Bramford

The converter station is where the green electricity generated offshore will join the National Grid to power homes, businesses and public buildings. It is being built next to the existing East Anglia ONE and National Grid substations at the end of Bullen Lane.

ScottishPower has signed a contract with Cadeler for the transportation and installation of the 95 wind turbines that will produce up to 1.4GW of green electricity at its East Anglia THREE offshore windfarm.

East Anglia THREE - ScottishPower Renewables formalised biggest ever contract award

ScottishPower Renewables has formalised a £1.3billion contract with Siemens Gamesa for 95 wind turbines for the East Anglia Three offshore windfarm. The 95 flagship 14.7MW turbines will have a combined capacity of 1,400MW, generating enough green energy to meet the annual demand of 1.3million homes.

The new Lowestoft ‘hotel’ designed to protect breeding pairs of globally threatened kittiwakes, is now open for guests.

East Anglia ONE North and TWO Update

East Anglia ONE North and East Anglia TWO offshore windfarms received Development Consent Orders on 31st March 2022.  This was excellent news for both projects, however given the timing of these consents, the projects were not able to participate in the 2022 Contracts for Difference Allocation Round 4. Furthermore, although the consented area of the offshore windfarm for EA2 was as per the application, the consented area for EA1N was significantly reduced.

Public Right of Way closure at Clappits Farm

Public Footpath (Ref E-537/031/0) will be closed until 23rd December 2022 to enable utility works. The footpath runs between Newbourne Road/Woodbridge Road and Mill Road, as shown here.

Paper Mill Lane chosen as preferred Construction Consolidation Site

Following the completion of site access points at three Consolidated Construction Sites (CCSs) in July, Paper Mill Lane has been chosen as the location for the installation of the full CCS. The remaining work includes the provision of office cabins, welfare, parking and storage facilities for equipment and materials.

Bramford converter station construction begins

Construction began on the East Anglia THREE onshore converter station in July 2022. Early work will include excavation to build the platform where the converter station will stand. Materials dug out in the process will be re-used on the Bramford site to create a landscaped bund to screen the development.

Installation of Construction Consolidation Sites

Work will begin installing temporary Construction Consolidation Sites (CCSs) in July. A CCS will be used for office space, welfare, parking and the storage of equipment and materials. The accesses will be installed off the public highway and traffic management will be installed for the safety of all road users. Please see below for information on closures and diversions.

EA3 Onshore construction update

Public Footpath (Ref E-537/031/0) will be closed between 26th September and 21st October 2022 due to onshore construction activity relating to the East Anglia THREE Offshore Windfarm development. The footpath runs between Newbourne Road/Woodbridge Road and Mill Road.

ScottishPower Renewables notes the Secretary of State’s decisions to consent the East Anglia ONE North and East Anglia TWO offshore windfarm projects. We are assessing the detail of the decisions and will be able to provide more information relating to the programme of works once this is complete.  

A number of onshore preparation works may take place over the coming months and information relating to these will be provided in due course.

In August 2021 East Anglia THREE Limited submitted an application for a non-material change to its planning consent, to amend the parameters of its offshore wind turbines (WTGs). A consultation on the proposals will run from 2 September to 22 October 2021.

Non Material change to EA1

East Anglia ONE Limited (EAOL) has commenced consultation for a non-material change to its planning consent. The change relates to a reduction in the consented number of Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and their associated parameters under both the Development Consent Order (DCO) and the Deemed Marine Licence (DMLs), and therefore separate applications will be made for the change to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
